When she was just a girl she expected the world, but it flew away from her reach. So she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of paradise every time she closed her eyes.

pretendings replied to your post: How do you feel about the John Hurt as one of the Doctors thing? Truthfully the more I think about it, the more I am liking the idea.I think they’re going to justify John Hurt being between 8 and 9 by saying that he didn’t earn the name Doctor, so he didn’t really count at all. They just ignored him because he committed genocide.if this is what it turns out to be, i call really sloppy writing
REALLY SLOPPY WRITING
something like this would have been hinted at or intimated by SOMEONE — the doctor, his foes, some random person — before now. prior to the first half of s7, the doctor was known throughout the cosmos. everyone knew of him, even if it was just as a bedtime story, and people constantly talked about the time war. i can’t believe that something this big wouldn’t have at least been mentioned A COUPLE TIMES before now.
if this was a goal for the 50th anniversary, they should have been layering in references a long time ago. hell, moffat alone has had THREE SEASONS to do this. and something as big as a 50th anniversary, they should have been planning for this and shooting ideas back and forth for A COUPLE YEARS by now, given how successful this show is.
i guess i’m just bitter with moffat because he’s throwing away everything old and established in order to pay homage to the scant couple of years that HE’S been involved with this show. refusing to have any of the past doctors or companions show up in the 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LONGEST RUNNING SCIFI SERIES just so he can focus on the handful of characters that he’s been instrumental behind? ego of the highest order and fucking offensive to the history of this show and the several generations of fans out there.
I agree that I definitely expected way more from Moffat, since he’s usually good about this sort of thing (writing women… not so much). I think the only reference to John Hurt would have been in The God Complex when he opened his room and we heard the cloister bells and he said “Of course”. Could have been handled wayyyy better.
Unfortunately it’s something I’ve somewhat gotten used to with this show. I hope Moffat steps down soon - he was great at writing individual episodes (The Girl in the Fireplace is one of my all-time favorite eps) but I hated how he handled Amy’s pregnancy and her whole story in general. This show deserves so much more, and hopefully it will improve so I can completely love it like I used to.

PETER PAN AU. He’s always kept his distance from the mermaids and their lagoon. However, when he hears that Neverland’s sea-dwellers have stolen a girl from her home and “turned” her, Peter stops by for a visit and manages to catch a glimpse of the victim.
His heart races.
It’s Wendy.
Clara: To you, I haven’t been born yet…and to you, I’ve been dead a 100 billion years. [looks at future Earth] Is my body out there somewhere? In the ground?
Doctor: Yes, I suppose it is.
Clara: But here we are, talking. So I am a ghost. To you, I’m a ghost…we’re all ghosts to you.
sometimes I think about my own character development
